A: Choosing to be treated privately ensures the following:

Prompt appointments

First class communications where everything will be explained in a manner that you can understand

You will be seen and treated throughout by an experienced Consultant Surgeon (Mr Smith)

You will be seen and treated in pleasant surroundings

You will not have to spend any longer in hospital than is absolutely necessary

 If you need to have an operation that requires a general anaesthetic it will be administered by an experienced Consultant Anaesthetist

You will be reviewed by Mr Smith who will have performed the operation and therefore he will be aware of everything that took place during your treatment and be best placed to understand your condition

A: You are usually seen within seven days. My secretaries will be able to give you a more accurate idea and are happy to take enquiries regarding your interest.

A: No. Patients are given an appointment as soon as possible. Surgery is carried out on Monday mornings at the 'Three Shires Hospital' and Thursday mornings at the 'Woodland Hospital'.

A: Payment is received either by BACS transfer, card payments over the telephone or by cheque. Patients with fixed cost packages can pay the relevant hospital by debit or credit card.

A: This will depend upon the type of surgery. For instance, Wisdom tooth surgery under a general anaesthetic will usually require you to take 5 to 7 days off work. Minor operations under local anaesthetic require 1 to 2 days to be taken off as recovery is a lot quicker.

A: This is not always necessary. However, it is preferable to have a referral letter either from your doctor or your dentist. It is worth noting that some insurance companies insist on a referral by your doctor or dentist.
